Welcome to the latest edition to Aston Wood GC weekly newsletter. We hope that you're having a good week on and off the golf course. Enjoy the read. |
An arctic feeling... It felt more like Arctic Wood than Aston Wood on Sunday but this did not stop a full field playing the Am-Am. After a challenging week with the weather the course played well and was presented in fantastic condition. My thanks goes to John and his team for the continued work they are doing on the course. We had 156 players on the day and all were very impressed with our course as we had some amazing feedback, with all enjoying their day. |
|
The TrackMan was set up on the first tee giving all players data on their swing and a few tips on how to improve their game. The scoring throughout the day was good and with three scores to count on each hole, the format was tough and with two teams producing scores of 108 points, the final result came down to the back 9 score, so I can confirm and say congratulations to the winners.
- First place - Steve Herriott, Robbie Hanna, Alan Sperry and Robert Lee - 108 points.
- Second place - Rich Wilson, Paul Thompson, Steve Banks and Tony Long - 108 points.
- Third place - S. Chester, A Carter, G Shelton and G Mcnaughton - 106 points.

Beat the pros We played our first beat the pro's match on Saturday and even though the rain did not stop for the 18 holes we had a great match. |
Rob Griffin and Mark Houston played myself and Lewis, feeling confident on the first tee we were soon brought down to earth when Rob started birdie, birdie nett birdie so we were three down after three thinking this could be over quite quickly. But we started getting back into the game as the round went on and managed to get back to all square after 13 holes, Mark held a great 10 foot putt on the 14th for a half and we exchanged pars on 15 and 16. With a four nett three on the 17th Hole for Mark, the match was won 2&1 for the challengers. A superb game well done guys (and don't worry I have already spoke to the comp secretary to get both your handicaps cut).

Nine & dine Unfortunately I think the weather kept all the golfers away last night as we only had two players turn up, so although they enjoyed lasagne after they played, the competition had to be cancelled. This is really disappointing for myself and the golfers who wanted to be part of the competition. Hopefully over the next few weeks we can get a little more support for the evening as it is a great event to enjoy some early evening golf and socialise with other members. |
