Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly newsletter. This week's email recaps a one-sided match between GB&I and the United States, we take a look at a simple way to bridge the gap between your long irons and woods, whilst our video of the week focuses on Rickie Fowler's warm-up routine - how similar is yours to his? BUPA Trophy

Congratulations to Andy Symonds who didn’t need any medical help on Saturday winning the BUPA Trophy with a very impressive 41 points, beating John Ridding who also scored 41 points but Andy won on a count back.

Monthly Medal

Rob Wilson won the Medal on Sunday with a faultless gross 73 nett 69. Rob had been struggling with his driver in recent weeks, so he decided to get fitted for the Callaway Epic driver and this result shows what hitting more fairways can do for you - Well done Rob. Gary Copson was second with a nett 71, Gary has been working hard on his game over the last few months and with his regular lessons is now seeing the results to match his hard work.

Christmas parties

It is only 103 days until Christmas, so if you are still thinking of where to go for your Christmas Party then look no further than the Fotherly Suite at Aston Wood. We have some amazing nights lined up starting at £25 and have limited places available, so book now to avoid disappointment.

The next generation of stars

The Walker Cup is a fiercely contested match between the best amateur golfers from GB&I and the United States, consisting of foursomes and singles matches across two days. The 2017 contest took place over the weekend and the end result was a convincing win for the American team, rectifying their biggest ever loss in 2015.

It’s a fantastic chance to see some of the upcoming stars of our game and is certainly a good indicator of future Ryder Cup players. For example, 2007’s match saw Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Danny Willett and Rickie Fowler compete for their respective countries, whilst Jordan Spieth defeated Andy Sullivan in 2011’s final singles. If you go even further back you’ll find that the likes of Graeme McDowell, Paul Casey and a certain Tiger Woods have all featured in years gone by.

Will any of 2017’s crop make the transition from top amateur to world beater like some of the guys above? Only time will tell...
