What an exciting weekend we had at the Wood

The Anniversary Cup was played on Friday and Saturday and with some great scores on both days but the winner with 44 points was Richard Hill who has now seen his handicap drop from 15 to 13 Congratulations Richard. Second with a very good score of 42 points was Simon Harris.

Saturday night also saw Aston Wood host its first Mexican Street food night (now I know we have a few bandits on the course) but there was a full house all loving the food and atmosphere. Our next Themed night is on Friday, 6 October so book now to avoid disappointment.

Mixed Open results

1st Mike Critchlow and Clare Arnold - 46 points.
2nd Kim Dutfield and Julie Harrision - 43 points (BB6).
3rd Keith Riley and Mary Riley - 43 points.
4th Keith Barker and Clare Nash - 41 points.

It seems that there is a common theme for the winners of both competitions this weekend and that is they have had lessons over the past few weeks. Lessons from the right person can make such a difference to your game. Winning competitions and seeing your handicap drop are both fantastic results for any golfer but also being able to play more confidently and enjoy the game are also what a good coach will aim to achieve. I loved the winners speech from Sunday. Mike was so pleased with the result and said "The person I would like to thank the most is not my partner but Tim for the coaching he has given me" .

DO THE RIGHT THING

If you find yourself holding up the group behind then we always advise that you invite them to play through with a quick wave, like in this photo. If you don’t it can not only delay that group, but it’s likely to hold up the groups behind them too.

MYTH BUSTER

It’s a common myth that single players have no standing on the course. The truth is that they must be treated the same as any two-ball, three-ball or four-ball when it comes to pace of play etiquette and waving them through.
